If you like to work with farm machinery, this may be the program for you. You will be prepared to be a technician at a farm or light industrial equipment dealership. On-the-job training and lab experiences in this two-year program will put your classroom knowledge to work.
The
Iowa-Nebraska Equipment Dealers Association Technician Apprenticeship
Program is an educational program designed to upgrade the technical
and professional level of the incoming farm equipment dealership
technician. The program
is sponsored by The Iowa-Nebraska Equipment Dealers Association in
cooperation with Northeast Iowa Community College, Calmar Campus.
Students will be provided with classroom instruction, shop
experience on various models of farm equipment and with twelve weeks
of work experience at their sponsoring dealership.
The
total program is completed in five semesters (including one summer
term) or approximately 21 months.
Classroom instruction covers the basics as a foundation upon
which to build and continues to include the latest innovations in the
industry. The work experience at the sponsoring dealership is divided
into two six-week sessions. The
first work experience is scheduled in the spring and the second in the
fall to coincide with the dealerships busiest times of the year.
